“THE BEST HARVEST.” ____ “The Best Harvest” was the title of a service of song given to the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Great Broughton, on Sunday evening. There was an excellent attendance. Mr. T. BARTON, of Aspatria gave the connective readings admirably, and the solo parts were effectively taken by: Mr. Thos. CAVANAUGH Mr. James LISTER, Great Broughton Mrs. Henry OSTLE, Dearham Mr. Gilbert BYERS Mr. W. G. BYERS. Mr. Peter HIGH was the conductor, and Mr. Allan HIGH accompanist. ************ BUCKHILL COLLIERY MINERS LODGE. ____ The members of this Lodge of the Cumberland Miners Association at the weekend balloted for the appointment of two checkweighmen. Messrs. Joseph FENWICK and Thomas OSTLE, the retiring checkweighmen were re-nominated, and a new aspirant for office was Mr. Jonah LISTER, of Great Broughton. The result was: - Elected, Mr. Thos. OSTLE, 231 votes; Jonah LISTER, 168. Not elected, Joseph FENWICK, 167. |
