CYCLING ACCIDENT AT DISTINGTON. _______ On Monday evening John TAWES, of Winscales Cottages, Workington, was admitted to Whitehaven Hospital suffering from head injuries as a result of an accident while riding a bicycle. It is stated that when on the road near Distington Toll Bar, TAWES first collided with a pedestrian and then with a motor bus. He was found to be in an unconscious condition and was conveyed to the hospital, his injuries included a concussion. TAWES is a married man. **** LANTERN ENTERTAINMENT AT ASBY. ____ On Thursday evening a lantern entertainment took place in the Asby Primitive Methodist Church. There was a large attendance. The lantern was kindly loaned and manipulated by Mr. F. DOBINSON, Cleator. The subjects were “In His Keeping,” and “The Village blacksmith,” and the stories were ably read by Mr. Joseph ATKINSON, Sunday School Superintendent. The scholars sang hymns. The proceeds were devoted to the Sunday School Funds. |
