CUMBERLAND CLYDESDALES
FOR CANADA.
 
    Six Clydesdales fillies have been purchased in Cumberland by the Canadian Government and were shipped from Glasgow on Friday.
 
    Three were obtained from Mr. J. ARMSTRONG, Tarraby, Carlisle; two from Mr. J. KERR, Red Hall, Wigton; and one from Mr. Albert ERRINGTON, Askham.

SEATON SILVER BAND.
 
    A most generous response by the parishioners  and friends and the enthusiasm of the members of the Woman's section resulted in the splendid sum of £12 2s being realised at a rummage sale and pound stall which was held in the British Legion Hall on Saturday. The articles were sold by Mr. J. LANCASTER, auctioneer, Workington. The effort was in aid of the Crystal Palace Contest Fund.

SEATON WESLEYAN
SISTERHOOD.
 
    The president, Mrs. MUSGRAVE, who presided over a good company at the weekly meeting gave an interesting address on John Bunyan's "Pilgrims Progress."
 
    Mrs. Isobel SYDNEY sang very pleasingly, "Just for Today," and Hold Thou My Hand."
 
    Mrs. CLARK was the accompanist. Refreshments were served by the members.

FARM CHANGES.
 
    Mr. W. BARR, of Birkethwaite, Boot, Eskdale, has taken Field Head Farm, Outgate, now in the occupation of Mr. J. W. RIGG, who is retiring from farming.
 
    Mr. RICHARDSON of Tawhouse, Boot, has moved to Lodore, Borrowdale.
 
    Mr. B. ARMSTRONG, jun., comes from Borrowdale to Gillbank Farm, Eskdale.
 
    Mr. T. LONG, Coulderton has taken Thornbank, Gosforth.

CLEATOR MOOR
LEAP YEAR DANCE.
 
    Ladies had preference of a large number of dances at the Conservative and Unionist Ball in the cleator Moor Market Hall on Friday night. There was a good company present and the event was a big success.
 
    Music was supplied by JACKSON's Excelda Band, and until midnight Mesdames CURRIE, JACKSON and DACRE were M. C.s the duties afterwards being taken over by Messrs. WILSON, MORTON, McDOWELL and CLAGUE.
