LOCAL AND GENERAL NEWS. BOOTLE. ****** Mr. GUNSON, ironmonger, Whitehaven, has contributed forty gallons of tar towards the bonfire to be lighted on Bootle Fell on the Diamond Jubilee Day. ****** Cyclists are increasing every week. The schoolmistress has now joined the ranks, and is receiving lessons from the blacksmith's apprentice, who is very expert. ****** The gardens are well forward. There is every appearance of an abundant fruit and vegetable crop. ****** Miss. WILLIAMSON is now quite settled down after her cjange of premises. She continues the sale of newspapers as usual. ****** Over £40 has been collected towards the celebrations fund. ****** Mr. GAINFORD, the blacksmith, has undertaken the lighting of the bonfire on Bootle Fell. ****** |
