Mr. GUNSON, ironmonger, Whitehaven, has contributed forty gallons of tar  
towards the bonfire to be lighted on Bootle Fell on the Diamond Jubilee  Day.

Cyclists are increasing every week. The schoolmistress has now joined the  
ranks, and is receiving lessons from the blacksmith's apprentice, who is very  
expert.

The gardens are well forward. There is every  appearance of an  abundant
fruit and vegetable crop.

Miss. WILLIAMSON is now quite settled down after her cjange of premises.  She
continues the sale of newspapers as usual.
 
 
******
 
Over £40 has been collected towards the celebrations fund.
 
 
******
 
Mr. GAINFORD, the blacksmith, has undertaken the lighting of the bonfire on  
Bootle Fell.
