A few weeks ago a lady of genteel appearance. rather below the middle size and pretty looking, called at the shop of Mr. MOORE, in the Market-Place, and requested him to put up three pairs of shoes to fit two children of the respective ages of two and three years, and that next week , the term at Saint Bees College being about finished, her husband, Mr. EDMUNDS, a student, would call on his way to keep the midsummer vacation and pay for them. The time of the promised payment having elapsed Mr. MOORE began to have some misgivings that all was not right, made some enquiries and found that no student of that name was at the college. Neither the lady or Mr. EDMUNDS have yet made their appearance to pay for the shoes. |
