CONISTON CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL EXCURSION. _______ This annual event took place on Tuesday, in favourable weather. After a short service in the church, the scholars accompanied by the Vicar and teachers marched to the station, &c., together with a considerable number of parents and other friends, left by 11-5 a.m. train for Seascale. Refreshments were served after arrival, and after tea provided in the Public Hall, the caterer being Mr. W. H. EYERS, of Coniston. After an enjoyable time in Seascale the return journey was commenced soon after six o’clock, Coniston being reached about eight. ***** ILLNESS OF MR. HINE. Mr. HINE of the Holme Line Steam Shipping Company who left Maryport last week for London was taken ill on the journey, and collapsed on his arrival. He is now lying seriously ill in a nursing home. |
