ST. BEES SCHOOL v. GENTLEMEN OF THE COUNTY. ___________ Yesterday, Wednesday afternoon a game of special interest was played on the school ground between these teams. The weather was simply ideal for the game, except for a slight cross breeze, which did not interfere much with the play. The gentlemen batted first with a strong team. HUGGINS made five fours and one 5 hit in his 53 runs, while J. HAILE’s 25 runs only included one four hit, the rest being earned with good consistent batting. In the bowling BRAIDFORD took three wickets for 30 runs, ROIBERTS three for 44 runs, GARSON four for 51 runs. For the school, BUCKLEY had the grand total of 29, which included two boundaries; LEWIS and NEILSON also played good cricket. The bowling was smart, particularly by HUGGINS, who took four wickets for eight runs. Scores: GENTLEMEN OF THE COUNTY: J. HUGGINS c. ALDERSON b BRAIDFORD, 53 L. JENKINS b ROBERTS, 4 H. B. McCANCE b.
