LIBERAL PRESENTATION AT KENDAL. _____ Over 2,000 Liberals of South Westmorland met at Kendal Castle on Saturday to make a presentation to Mr. W. H. SOMERVELL, who at last general election and at the recent by election unsuccessfully contested the division. The presents which had been subscribed for by 3,700 members of the party included a large water colour by Charles M. GERE, a rose bowl in silver designed and executed in the Keswick School of Art, a set of the Dictionary of National Biography in a special oak case, a fur motoring coat, and for Mrs. SOMERVELL, a pearl and diamond pendant and gold watch bracelet. Mr. Gilbert GILKES of Burnside made the presentations. In acknowledging the presents, Mrs. SOMERVELL first made a short speech, and Mr. SOMERVELL added his thanks. |
