EXCURSION FROM MORESBY PARKS. _____ Yesterday (Wednesday) the members of the “Ascension” Tent of the I. O. R., at Moresby Parks, had their annual outing. The venue chosen was again St. Bees, and a large party of members and friends, to the number of 67 juveniles and 48 adults, left Moresby Parks about 11-30 a.m. in seven wagonettes and the char-a-banc provided by the Whitehaven Cab Co., arriving safely at St. Bees about 12-30. The day was an ideal one for a visit to the seaside, and the youngsters were soon busy on the sand, and paddling in the water. About 4 p.m. the children were provided with an excellent tea, prepared by Mrs. R. SIMPSON, Moresby Parks, and needless to say, with their appetites well whetted by the bracing air, ample justice was done to the tea, their wants being well looked after by Mrs. SIMPSON assisted by the misses: Jennie WHITESIDE Lettie THOMPSON Henrietta LONGCAKE Annie Mary TINNION Mary A. HAIG After tea the children and the adults amused themselves in various ways until 7-30 p.m., when they all assembled together again for the drive home, where they arrived about 8-30 p.m., having had a grand outing. The Rev. H. J. ALLEN had all the arrangements in hand, and accompanied the trippers in their very pleasant and enjoyable time. |
