DEATH AT ASKAM _____ The death occurred with painful suddenness of Miss. Ruth AIREY, daughter of Mr. Walter AIREY, Duddon Road, Askam, on Friday morning last. The deceased girl, who was of a bright and sunny disposition, was thriteen years of age, and was at school on Tuesday. On Wednesday she was at home, not feeling well, and during Thursday she rapidly grew worse, dying early Friday morning. Much sorrow is felt by all who knew her for the loss of one whom they learnt to love. When the sad news was broken at the Victoria Council School where Ruth was a scholar, both teachers and scholars subscribed for a beautiful wreath. The funeral was held on Monday at the Church of Christ Burial Ground, Wallend, Kirkby. The corttege came from Askam on the 3.11 train.
