LOCAL AND OTHER VERSE ______ AT BISKEY HOWE. In all the pride of Nature’s lavish glory - In all the radiance of midsummer’s bloom, Like some imperious, passionate love story That ally my life with brilliance would illume, Are these old hills which circle me around. No sign of grimy squalor can we see, No noisome sin, no harsh repellant sound - Nothing but one continuous joyancy. Cool, kindly zephyrs from the land of love Waft fragrant breezes as I lazily Gaze on the cloudless firmament above With rapt, untiring, eager, longing eye; And think the lang’rous guerdon of my sight At Biskey Howe is tremendous with delight. Chas. F. FORSHAW, LL.D Bradford. |
