DISTINGTON WESLEYAN SUNDAY SCHOOL. ____ The anniversary services in connection with the Distington Wesleyan Sunday School were held on Sunday and Thursday. The congregations on Sunday were large. The Rev. G. MILLS of Cleator Moor, preached both afternoon and night. Mr. BLAKLEY presided at the organ, and special hymns were sung. The children also gave recitations. A collection was taken to defray the expenses. On Thursday a public tea was held, to which a large number sat down. The tables were presided over by: - Misses: M. HALL C. HALL BELL E. WILSON LACE OWEN, and Mrs.: MILLING T. TAYLOR, looking after the boiling of the water. The following sent contributions: - Mesdames: A. ROBINSON R. HALL J. H. WILLIAMSON TAYLOR ROACH MARCHALL JONES M. BELL Mr. N. RUSSELL Mrs. MILLING Mr. J. WILSON, and others. After tea was over a public meeting was held in the chapel, Mr. Robert ROACH presiding and he was supported by the Rev. J. H. CARTWRIGHT. The Chairman and the Rev. J. H. CARTWRIGHT addressed the congregation. An excellent programme was gone creditably through, which spoke volumes for the teachers, theose contributing to the same including: - A. LACE Harry TAYLOR Nellie RUSSELL Eliza MOSSOP Alice WILLIAMSON Edith WISLON Mr. R. MILLING E. MCLEAN Mary LINTON Harry MOSSOP Etta WILKINSON Maud WILLIAMSON. Mr. BLACKEY again presided at the organ. A collection was taken for the Sunday School funds. A comprehensive vote of thanks was passed to all who had helped to make the anniversary a success. The Sunday School trip is to be to Croasdale. |
