CLEATOR MOOR POLICE COURT. Friday, August 8. (Before A. E. LAMB, in the chair, Esq., T. GARRATT, Esq., and H. S. BYERS, Esq.) EGREMONT FARMER AND LIGHT REGULATIONS. Hy. FISHER, 36, farmer, Cobra Castle, Egremont, was charged with having driven a horse and spring cart without having a light attached, in High-street, Cleator Moor, at 10.20 p.m. on the 19th July. P. C. WILKINSON, 56, said that when he spoke to the defendant he replied, “I don’t require a light. There are plenty in the street.” A boy was seated in the cart with a stable lamp, which was not lighted and useless for the purpose required. Later defendant lighted a lamp before he went home. Supt. HOGG intimated to the Bench that the lighted lamp attached to the cart, so that it will reflect a red light behind. Defendant was fined 10s or seven days imprisonment. *** OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Charles MCGHIE, 40, Prospect Row, Cleator, was charged with having used obscene language in Prospect Row, Cleator, at 9.45 p.m. on the 26th July. P. C. WINTER gave evidence, and defendant was fined 10s or seven days imprsionment. *** Geo. McCANN, 60, labourer, of Braithwaite’s Court, was charged with having used indecent language within hearing, and to the annoyance of the residents and passengers in Birk’s Road, Cleator Moor, at 11.30 p.m. on the 19th July. P. C. WILKINSON, 56, proved the charge, and defendant was charged 10s or seven days imprisonment. |
