SPORTS
____

The annual picnic and sports to be held on Saturday have every promise of being successful. A good field, only a short distance from the railway station, has been secured.

The chief attraction will be the hound trail, for which Mr. Chris. LOWTHER, prospective Unionist candidate for North Cumberland, will act as starter and judge, and will present a special trophy to the owner of the winning dog.

A boy’s handicap and the wrestling events will also form attractive features for the gathering.

CAMPING.
____

The Local Church Lads’ Brigade under the superintendence of their captain, the Rev. E. B. FURMSTON, arrived home on Saturday afternoon after a week’s camping at Prestatyn, (sp?) near Rhyl, North Wales, and as the weather conditions were ideal an enjoyable time was spent.

The Local territorials returned to their headquarters on Saturday afternoon under the command of Captain GRAHAM and Sergeant Instructor WILKINSON. They were encamped for a fortnight at Sowerby Woods, near Barrow-in-Furness, and experiencing the best of weather were able to carry out their maneuvers under favourable conditions, and the Corps presented and smart and bronzed appearance.
