Page 4 of 4 STRAY NOTES continued......................................... MR. BARLOW-MASSICKS excelled himself in his speech when moving a vote of confidence in MR. DUNCOMBE, and alluded to the good work that gentleman had already accomplished to the advantage of Millom and what he had taken in hand to do in the future, and his remarks met with decided tokens of MR. DUNCOMBE's popularity. It is gratifying to know that the recent political events are impressing the Millom Radicals that Conservative doctrines and practices are worth consideration and acceptance. From Tuesday's experience it is evident that a great change is taking place favourable to the Conservative cause. The annual meeting of the Lindow Habitation of the Primrose League went off most successfully at Cleator Moor last night, when it was held as usual in the Market Hall which was tastefully and prettily decorated with flags, banners, and mottos and fancy arrangements in art muslin. The tea was a great event and was very enjoyable, the number of ladies present affording evidence that the habitation was a popular one. The various tables were classified under appropriate names of leaders in the Conservative cause, and everything supplied was of first-class quality with excellent attendance. The platform during the concert and address presented a perfect picture, the centre figure of which was MISS BURNS-LINDOW, who looked queenly, attired in a handsome creamy white silk dress, trimmed with pale primrose satin. MR. DUNCOMBE seemed in better health than on the previous night at Millom, and his address was a genuine treat. MR. J. J. ROBINSON was highly complimented by the chairman, MR. JONAS LINDOW, and from all accounts he deserved it, bringing the complicated series to a successful climax. I regret being unable to enter into further particulars, but am convinced from all I saw and heard that the dance to follow the concert would be something to remember for years as The boys appeared so gay And the girls so awfully pretty.
