The Theft of £100. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Before the Mayor, W. H. KITCHIN, G. W. KENWORTHY, AND J. WILSON, Esqurs.) There was a good attendance at the White- haven Police Court on Monday, when sentence was passed upon the female prisoner in this case. The case was one in which Sarah FOX, aged 15, of no occupation, was charged with having stolen between May of last year and the 15th of February last, the sum of £100, the property of Jane SALISBURY, of 12, Scotch-street, Whitehaven. John Rigg FOX, aged 52, sailor, was also charged with having received the money. The latter prisoner, however, was on Monday, the 15th inst., sentenced to six months' imprisonment in Carlisle Gaol, the sentence on the female prisoner being deferred until Monday last. After a prolonged consultation, prisoner was ordered to be sent to a Reformatory until she is 19 years of aged. ********** |
