 STRAY NOTES     ~continued.
It is rather an interesting fact that on Tuesday
last I was in receipt of three foreign letters, one
was from New Zealand, another from South
Africa, and which is published elsewhere, and
the third was from Canada.
The last mentioned one is a friendly and com-
plimentary communication from the youngest
Roman Catholic Archbishop in the world, who
may possibly some day fill the elevated position
of His Holiness the Pope of Rome.
It will be very satisfactory information for the
friends of the West Cumberland Agricultural
Society to know that another meeting will be
called to re-consider the policy of making the
show a close one.  I am told that Mr. HASTWELL
regrets the action he took at the last meeting, and
will vote the other way about next time.
My attention has been drawn to a publication
called "Woman's Life," in which there is a photo-
graph of Sally MADGE and a history of her life.
The photo is by Mr. LOVELL, but the history is
"cribbed" from the account in the "Gazette"
some months ago.
                                                         LIEUT.
