DRIGG

The carcass of a large cow washed up on the beach on
Saturday and was in an advanced state of decomposition.

The hotel at Holmrook, the Lutwidge Arms, is being
painted and papered to be ready for the reception of visitors
        expected at Easter.

The chiming bells at Holmrook Hall can be heard a con-
siderable distance round the village, and the sweet sounds are
        much enjoyed.

Mrs. J. HUDDLESTON,  of Whitehaven, has considerably
improved in health, after a fortnight's stay at Drigg.

It is said that more bicycles pass through Holmrock than
through any other village for twelve miles around.

At a recent farm stock sale a farmer who had purchased a
number of poultry carried them into the Drigg Hotel and placed
them under the table in the bar, when one of the hens availed
herself of the opportunity of laying an egg.

Daffodils or Lenten lilies are in great abundance this year.
