A LETTER FROM KRUGERSDORP.

Dear Sir, It was with great pleasure I

read your notes re Johannesburg in the issue

of January 21st. You state that the "Gazette"

is the most popular sent from our old town;

this I and my chums heartily endorse, and

thank you for once more coming back to our

old district, and keeping them alive with your

ever-ready and able pen. Personally I have not

had any cause to borrow a "Gazette" as I have

had one sent out to me ever since its re-commen-

cement, but I may say that my chums, who are

no so fortunate in this respect, are a source of much

annoyance to me on mail days when the "Gazette"

arrives. They will insist in disturbing my dreams

of the old place, inspired by your paper, by asking

"What's fresh," and they are never happy, like the

baby in Pear's well-known advertisement, until

they get it and read it themselves. You will see by

the above where I am located, but as my business

takes me into the Rand every week I keep in touch

with most of the old Cumberland boys. It would I

think, interest your readers to know something of

their doings, so I have just dotted down a few brevities

which, if you consider fitted for publication, would

not only interest your readers at home, but very much

your old readers in this country, who are very num-

erous. I beg to remain, dear sir.

ONE OF YOUR ADMIRERS.

Krugersdorp, S.A.R.
