The oft discussed motor car is, I hear, much more "en evidence" in Paris than in London. Mrs. CRAWFORD, the clever Paris correspondent of the "Daily News," has returned from her travels in Egypt, and may be frequently seen driving in the Bois de Boulogne in her motor car, and there is altogether a fair sprinkling of horseless carriages to be seen in and about Paris. I understand though, that an electric brougham, belonging to M. DORRACQ, ran through London about a week ago, with the driver perched behind. They say this carriage is a decided advance in the right direction, for it carries enough power for a fifty mile run, and can be re-charged for a similar distance for four shillings, and the speed also can be exactly regulated.
One hears a good deal about vegetarianism now-a-days, but whether or not it is an ideal way of maintaining life, I really could not say. This same Mrs. CRAWFORD, whom I have just mentioned, has been writing for "The Young Woman" an article on Sir Isaac HOLDEN, one of the oldest men living in this country. His home is Oakworth Hall, in Yorkshire, and he attributes his longevity to feeding chiefly on fruit and vegetables.
