Page 12 of 12 A NEW WAY OF BOILING POTATOES In a certain town, not 100 miles away, a lady had occasion to change her servant, and as she had not very well got used to her mistress's way. The lady had to go out on business just before dinner, and she told the sevant they would have potatoes boiled with their jakets on. So in due time she came back and asked the maid if she had done as she was told, whe, to her surprise, she answered: "If you please mum I could not find an old jacket, so I boilde them in an old pair of britches."
