Page 6 of 12 FAIRLY DONE In a school near Ravenglass, the other day, one of Her Majesty's Inspectors was examining a class, having "a bird" for his subject. After asking them several questions, he inquired of the children what a bird could do, which he could not, expect- ing them to say "Fly." He waited a long time and no one seemed to know. At last one little girl put up her hand, and the Inspector said: "Well, my little dear, what can a bird do that I can't, " and she replied "Lay an egg." The Inspector was satisfied, and when the report came he allowed "The Free Grant." E. PHIZACKLEA, The Crossings, Drigg |
