LOCAL NEWS ITEMS ESKDALE. ****** Mr. John TYSON has some bees that commenced to swarm on Monday; these are the earliest heard of in the Dale. There is an old saying to the effect: "A swarm of bees in May Is worth a load of hay." ****** Mr. Tom NEWBY, of Muncaster Head, has lost his prize herdwick tup. It was his intention to exhibit him during the coming season. The loss of so valuable an animal is a serious one, as he was a most successful prize winner. ****** In Eskdale Notes of the "News" last Thursday, the attention of the constable was called to the swearing on Sunday evenings, also to the conduct of some boys towards a girl, but nothing was said about the language regularly used by the scholars at the High School during recess to passers by. This is a matter that needs particular attention, and the residents would be pleased if the inspector would take notice of this. ****** Mr. Ed. BIBBY intends holding his ball at the Stanley Ghyll Hotel, on Friday, June 4th, when it is expected a good company will be expected. ****** Mr. John VICARS, of Ghyll Bank, is improving from the effects of the accident he had some time ago. It is expected he will be present at the meeting of the Jubilee Committee on Saturday next. ******
