Dear Uncle Sam, - The best summer resort in Cumberland is St. Bees. The  
reason I consider St. Bees the best is because it is a quiet little village, and  
it is a pleasure to walk along the sand or on the cliffs and breathe the pure  
sea air. There are lots of people who go there to spend their summer

Dear Uncle Sam, - The place which I consider the best resort in summer in  
Cumberland is Cockermouth. When we are there we can see the shops, the old  
castle, a monument, and a big clock. The clock has four faces. It was put up in  
memory of Edward WAUGH. The four faces of the clock look up four different  
streets. We could go and watch the trains coming in and going out of the  
station. There are two auctions, and we go on Mondays into them and watch the  
auctioneers selling cows, sheep, pigs, poultry, &c. - Your affectionate  nephew,

Dear Uncle Sam, - The summer resort I like best is St. Bees. It is situated  
not far from Hensingham. There are rocks to ramble over. It is nice to watch 
the  ships going over the water, and see the tide coming in and going out. Then 
the  sea air makes you feel hungry, which is a good sign of health. - I

are mountains to climb, and the lake to sail on. And after either a row on the

Dear Uncle Sam, - I think the best summer resort is Calderbridge. At this  
place there is the Abbey, which you can visit. It is open for visitors on  
Tuesdays and Thursdays. The air is very sweet and pure. It is a very pleasant

Coniston, because it has such beautiful scenery. I was once there on our choir  
trip, and I thought it very nice. I had a sail on the lake, and a very jolly
