BOARD OF GUARDIANS. The fortnightly meeting was held on Thursday. Present: Rev. A. F. CURWEN, chairman Rev. G. B. ARMES Rev. E. H. SUGDEN Rev. W. G. C. HODGSON Messrs. DEES M'GOWAN BROWN J. S. BRAGG, Beckermet W. H. ATKINSON, clerk. The Chairman, referring to Jubilee Day, thought the members would all be of opinion that the old people should have a treat on that day. He moved that they have a dinner somewhat similar to the Christmas dinner, and that there also be an allowance made to each of the old inmates of tea and tobacco. Mr. GRAHAM seconded the motion, and it was agreed to. It was decided that the House Committee carrying out the arrangements with the master. Mr. KENWORTHY gave notice of motion that the salary of Mr. HARTLEY, assistant overseer at St. Bees, be increased in accordance with the recommendation of the Parish Council. The Clerk, (referring to a letter from the Whitehaven overseers forwarding copy of a resolution that the duties of the assistant overseer having been increased, the Board of Guardians be recommended to add to his salary a sum equal to that paid to Mr. TELFER, the late assistant overseer) said that they could deal with that when they got Mr. TELFER's superannation allowance settled. Mr. TELFER's allegation was that he had lost £107 a year by this change. It was agreed that it be reported to the Relief Committee to report to the Board. Mr. DEES gave notice of motion that the salary of the industrial trainer be increased. - It was agreed to advertise for tenders for papering and painting. ******
