TREAT AT HAILE. Miss. POSONBY, Haile Hall, on Saturday last, showed her usual kindness and thoughtfulness in providing a treat for the school children, and parishioners of Haile. The social gathering has been annual for a few years now, and Miss. POSONBY's generosity is highly appreciated by the inhabitants of the parish. The children sat down to an excellent tea laid in the schoolroom, and every attention was given to the children by Miss. TURNER (Schoolmistress), assisted by: Mrs. BRINDLE Mrs. SMITH Mrs. NOBLE Mrs. LOGAN Miss SMITH (assistant mistress) Miss. THROUGHTON Miss. SPEDDING After the children were satisfied the adults sat down to a fresh supply of everything that was nice, over which a very pleasant hour was spent. Various outdoor games were arranged but the state of the weather would not permit them, so that they had to provide some amusements for the children in the jolly time they had. At the conclusion about a half past seven, cheers were most heartily given for Miss. POSONBY for providing the treat, and to those ladies who kindly helped to make the youngsters happy, after which the National Anthem was sung, and the children went home, each carrying a bag of nuts and sweets, having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The room was then cleared and dancing was indulged in by the adults, and kept up till half past eleven. During the evening songs were kindly rendered by Messrs. J. J. MUMBERSON, H. Y. SIMPSON, and J. SMITH, and everyone expressed their gratitude to Miss. POSONBY for the happy time they had spent. ****** |
