MARRIAGE OF MISS. A. DIXON
OF SANDWITH.


       On Wednesday afternoon, August 30th, the marriage of Miss. Amanda
DIXON, with Mr. Thomas A. ANDERSON was solemnized at the Congregational Church,
Whitehaven, by the Rev. A. O. LOCHORE, pastor of that church.

       Miss. DIXON is the second daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. I. DIXON,
Sandwith, and Mr. ANDERSON is the youngest son of Mr. ANDERSON of Carlisle,
and is of the firm of Messrs. A. and T. H. ANDERSON, contractors, Whitehaven.

       The bride who was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. I. DIXON, of
Liverpool, was handsomely attired in a dress of heliotrope silk eolienne over
glace silk, with sash and trimmings of point lace, drawn ribbon, and white
silk; her bridal hat was of fancy white straw, trimmed with chiffon, lilac and
orange blossoms, and she wore a gold turquoise and pearl bangle and carried an
exquisite show bouquet of lilium narcissi, Lily of the Valley, roses, and
maidenhair fern, the gifts of the bridegroom.

       The bridesmaids were Miss. Jeannie DIXON (sister of the bride) and
Miss. Annie POOLE, who looked very graceful in dresses of ivory cashmere with
trimmings of accordion pleated chiffon, silk and heliotrope bebe ribbon. Their
hats were of white chiffon, and each carried a lovely bouquet of sweet peas,
heliotrope smilax, and maidenhair fern, which together with the gold and pearl
shamrock brooches they wore were the gifts of the bridegroom.

       Mr. ANDERSON was supported by his brother, Mr. A. ANDERSON who acted
as best man, and Mr. Henry DIXON, (brother of the bride) as groomsman.

       On return to Sandwith the bridal party were photographed by Mrs.
WILSON, King Street, Whitehaven. Subsequently the wedding breakfast was partaken at
the home of the bride's mother, and the newly married couple later left for
Edinburgh  and Glasgow, where the honeymoon is to be spent.

       The bride's travelling dress was a light grey scotch tweed costume,
with hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. ANDERSON were the recipients of many beautiful
and costly presents.
