THE CUMBERLAND BILLIARD ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting took place in the Conservative Club Room, Cleator Moor, on Wednesday. There was a large attendance of delegates from the different clubs. The balance sheet on the motion of Mr. MACKIE, seconded by Mr. D. GALLAGHER, was approved. The balance sheet was considered very satisfactory, commencing with a balance of £2 0s 8 1/2d. and showing a credit balance of £2 11s 5d at the end of the year. Mr. J. MACKIE proposed, and Mr. W. HORNE seconded, that the Cleator Moor Young Men's Society and Egremont Liberals become members of the Association. The officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Mr. J. J. MILBURN, President Mr. J. MACKIE, vice president Mr. J. CAMPBELL, Treasurer Mr. P. A. BURNS, Auditor Mr. D. J. SMITH, Secretary It was resolved on the motion of Mr. P. A. BURNS, that any amateur championship player be allowed to play for the shield, the secretary to look up the matter. Resolved that the proposed amendments to rules be struck out as required by the different clubs. The meeting accepted the offer of the Cleator Moor Liberal Club of use of their rooms for the next twelve months. It was resolved that an honorarium of one guinea be given to the secretary for his services. Mr. LOWERY, Frizington Workingmen's. proposed that a vote of thanks be tendered to Mr. LABOURNE for his past services as president to the Association, and that it be recorded in the minute book. ****** |
