AMBLESIDE PETTY SESSIONS. Wednesday, September 6. (Before H. REDMAYNE and J. H. STOREY, Esqs.) A long telegram was read from defendant, from Glenridding, and who had only that morning received notice of summons, it having been left at his residence, and notice forwarded on to him, from which it appeared he wished to defend the charge, and the case was adjourned for a fortnight. ** Cuthbert FULLER, a gardener, Grasmere, charged Ernest COATES, gardener, Grasmere, and William COATES, joiner, Grasmere with assault on the 26th August. Mr. J. T. SHEPHERD was for plaintiff, and Mr. G. GATEY for defendants. Mr. SHEPHERD said the plaintiff was willing to withdraw the summons on payment of costs by the defendants. The Bench granted the withdrawal of the charges. ****** WHITEHAVEN EDUCATION COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting was held at the Town Hall yesterday (Wednesday). Present: Ald. MOORE, chairman Ald.
