FATAL ACCIDENT AT  MARYPORT.
____

A sailor belonging to a schooner lying in Maryport harbour,  was accidentally
killed on Sunday morning.

It appears that he was attempting to pass from the rigging of  the vessel to
the pier by means of a ladder, when he overbalanced himself, and,  falling to
the harbour between the vessel and the quay, was killed on the  spot.

SERIOUS CASUALTY.

On Sunday last, a young seaman had his leg taken off by a rope, while  aiding
to moor the vessel to which he belonged in the Maryport harbour.

He was taking out a coil of rope in a boat, when the rope caught his leg  and
took it completely off by the knee.
