DINNER AT LANGHOLM.

Miss. BEATTIE, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas BEATTIE, Esq.,  Meickledale,
having attained her majority, on the 18th inst., her tenantry and a  number of
old acquaintances of her father, met at Langholm on that day, in order  to
congratulate her on the event; and between thirty and forty say down to an
excellent dinner, served up on Mr. BROWN’s best style.

Mr. Andrew COMMON was in the chair, and Mr. James GLENDINNING  officiated as
croupier.

Several toasts appropriate to the occasion were drunk, and the  health of
Miss. BEATTIE was proposed in highly flattering terms and received  with great
enthusiasm.

The young lady, who lost both her parents when but a child, is  now
proprietress of extensive estates both in Dumfriesshire and Argyleshire; and  the wish
expressed by the chairman, that she might soon meet with a partner in  life
worthy of her, was loudly cheered.
