COCKERMOUTH
PETTY  SESSIONS.
 
 
(Before Rev. E. FAWCETT, Gen. WYNDHAM, M. P., T. H. HOSKINS,  Esq., and Jno.
HARRIS, Esq.)
 

Wm. Hy. SHARPLESS, of Wigan, coal miner, was committed to gaol for  three
months for picking the pocket of James PROUD, of Dovenby, of 1s  2d  and a silk
handkerchief. This is the first conviction by the Magistrates at  Cockermouth
under the new act.

James LILLAR was fined for damages for willfully and maliciously breaking  
the windows of Dr. BELL, Cockermouth.

Jno. ALLINSON, of Cockermouth, waller, was fined 10s and costs for an  
assault upon the police, in execution  of their duty.
