West Cumberland Times - Saturday, Nov. 15, 1930
SOLICITOR KEEPS HIS
PROMISE
______
Whitehaven Man's
Unemployment Benefit.

Mr. BRAITHWAITE, the Whitehaven solicitor, on Thursday told the Bench that, adhering  to his promise, he had investigated the unemployment bebefit claim of Jos. MALKINSON, of 153, Queen Street, Whitehaven, and had had the matter put to order.

MALKINSON had been summoned by his wife for failing to comply with a maintenance order. He contended that the Exchange people would not allow him married man's allowance and therefore he could not pay the £1 a week demanded.

Mr. BRAITHWAITE now told the court that the claim would be honoured  and that all arrears would be paid. MALKINSON promised to hand the money over to his wife.

Mrs. MALKINSON: I am determined to give it to the Guardians to repay the money I have had from them.
