UNIVERSAL REDEMPTION. ______ At a weekly meeting of the Maryport Mutual Improvement Association, head on Thursday evening, a debate took place on the query, "Is redemption universal?' The affirmative was taken by Mr. F. KELLY, and Mr. J. WILSON the negative. An interesting discussion followed. The burden of evidence, of course, lay upon the affirmative leader, and whatever may have been the individual views of the members upon universal redemption, there was a general impression that Mr. KELLY, in his impassioned and crushing reply, made out a very good case for the advanced views of his party. There was an exceptionally large attendance. ******************** DEARHAM SCHOOL BOARD ______ The ordinary monthly meeting of the Dearham School Board was held on Wednesday evening in the school. There were present: - Mr. Matthew WALTON, chairman Mr. J. STOCKDALE Rev. W. S. CAVERLEY Mr. J. G. GIBSON Mr. J. RUSSELL, assistant clerk. The cheques for the month's expenses were signed. The financial statement of the Board for the twelve months ending September 30 was examined and discussed, after which it was agreed that the statement should be approved, and printed in due course after the audit. Several parents attended the meeting in reference to the non-attendance of their children at school. Other business of a routine character was transacted. ************************* |
