A WOMAN BEATING A MAN. _______ A COMPLICATED ASSAULT CASE. Yesterday, (Friday), at a Maryport Police Court, Mary RITSON, wife of an innkeeper at Crosby, was summoned for assaulting Thomas McKAY, butcher, Allerby, on the 14th inst. A cross summons charged McKAY with assaulting Mrs. RITSON, and a further charge was preferred by McKAY against Robert RITSON, for assaulting him on the 11th October. When the cases were called, Mr. J. C. NICHOLSON, who appeared on behalf of Mr. McKAY, said he had arranged that the case should be settled without coming before the Bench. Mr. HEWETSON said he appeared for Mr. and Mrs. RITSON, and, with the permission of the Bench, he would withdraw the summonses. Mr. NICHOLSON and himself had come to an arrangement which would be satisfactory to the parties. The Bench allowed the summonses to be withdrawn. ************************ |
