A SOCIAL TEA. ___ The session of the Primitive Methodist Mutual Improvement Association was opened by a social tea and miscellaneous entertainment in the Schoolroom, John Street, on Thursday. About 140 persons partook of tea, and the following ladies presided at the tables: - Miss. FERGUSON Miss. JACKSON Miss. BRIERBY Miss. H. BRIERBY Miss. PEARCE Miss. LOWES Miss. M. E. WHITTLE Miss. BLACK Miss. BELL Miss. MARTIN Miss. WILSON. After the tea, the tables were cleared and the following programme was gone through in a very efficient manner: - Address - Chairman, Rev. J. HAWKINS Selection, string band Address - Mr. R. JACKSON Song - Miss. FERGUSON Address - Mr. T. W. JOHNSTON Song - Mr. L. FERGUSON Recitation - Mr. NICHOLS Song - Mr. E. CADMAN Address - Mr. J. E. CARMICHAEL Recitation - Mr. S. CARMICHAEL Flute Solo - Mr. S. LEE At the close of the meeting, votes of thanks were accorded to the ladies who officiated at the tea tables, to the chairman, and the performers. The tea realised between £5 and £6. The newly formed string band was under the leadership of Mr. J. RIMMER; Mrs. HAWKINS ably accompanied on the piano. The society propose to hold their meetings every Thursday evening. ******************************* |
