NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, PURSUENT to an Act of Parliament, passed in the 55th year of the Reign of his late Majesty KING GEORGE THE THIRD, intituled "An Act for enabling spiritual persons to exchange the Parsonage or Glebe Houses, or Glebe Lands belonging to their Benefices, for others of greater value or more conveniently situated for their residence or occupation, and for annexing such Houses and Lands so taken in exchange to such Benefices as Parsonage or Glebe Houses and Glebe Lands, and for purchasing and annexing Lands to become Glebe in certain cases, and for other purposes:" That the RIGHT HONOURABLE WILLIAM EARL of LONSDALE, K.G., and the REVEREND WILLIAM JACKSON, B.D. Rector of the Parish and Parish Church of Lowther, in the county of Westmorland, and Diocese of Carlisle, intend to make an exchange as folows, viz. The said EARL OF LONSDALE intends to convey to the said RECTOR all that ancient Mansion called Askham Hall, in the parish of Askham, in the said county, with the Court Yard, Stable, Coach-house, and other buildings, Gardens, Orchards, and Pleasure Grounds, theretoadjoining, containing together by admeasurment four acres, three roods, and sixteen perches; also a Close or Inclosure called the Park, containing eight acres and twenty-two perches, which said Premises are bounded by an occupation road, a parcel of waste land, and the river Lowther on the east, by the lands of the said EARL OF LONSDALE and the REVEREND JOHN AIREY on the west, by the lands of the said EARL OF LONSDALE on the north, and by a parcel of waste land and the town-street of Askham on the south; also the following Closes lying in the town-fields of Askham aforesaid, viz. ---two Closes called the Crofts, and a Close called the Garth, lying together, and containing five acres, one rood, and seven perches, bounded by the Glebe Lands of the VICAR OF ASKHAM on the east and south, by the lands of RICHARD DOCKERAY, Bailiff, JOHN NOBLE, and the said EARL OF LONSDALE on the west, and the town street of Askham on the north; also the Croft, containing three acres, three roods, Coatgill Head, containing twenty-eight perches, Sandy Bank, containing two acres, one rood, and twenty-one perches, Hoghouse End, containing two acres, three roods, and thirty-four perches, Stockrans Flatt, containing six acres and eight perches, Howsteads, containing one acre and thirty-two perches, Stockrans, containing four acres, three roods, andn sixteen perches, Broad Close, containing three acres and twelve perches, Broad Head, containing four acres, one rood, and two perches, which said last mentioned Closes are bounded by the lands of the said EARL OF LONSDALE and the road leading from Askham to Pooley on the east, by Askham High Field on the west, by an occupationn road called Bullgate on the north, and by Askham Common and Stockrans Lane on the south; and also all that Close or Allotment of Common situate in the parish of Shap, in the said county, containing eleven acres, two roods, and twenty perches, bounded by the lands of JOHN JAMES RICHARDSON on the east, by the public road leading from Shap to Little Strickland on the west, by the lands of MATTHEW BETHAM and JOHN BETHAM on the north, and by the Glebe Lands belonging to the said Rectory of Lowther on the south: IN EXCHANGE for the Rectory House of Lowther aforesaid with the Yard, Outbuildings, and Garden thereto adjoining, containing together one acre, one rood, and thirty-one perches; also the following Closes, - that is to say, Near Bottom, containing two acres, one rood, and eleven perches, the Brow, containing five acres, three roods, and twelve perches, Far Bottom, with a Parcel of Wood Land adjoining, containing three acres, three roods, and twenty-five perches, the Wood, with a Parcel of Wood Land adjoining, containing five acres, three roods, and thirty perches, Garden Brow, containing five acres, two roods, and thirty-six perches, Low Gardens, containing three acres and eight perches, and Pond Garden, containing one acres, two roods, and nineteen perches, all which last mentioned Premises adjoin each other, and are bounded by the lands of the said EARL OF LONSDALE and Lowther Church yard on the east, by the river Lowther on the west, by other parts of the said Glebe Lands on the north, and by the lands of the EARL OF LONSDALE on the south; and also all that Parcel of Land or Island containing twenty-eight pearches lying in the river Lowther, opposite to the said Close called Near Bottom, Dated the ninth day of April, 1829.
