NOTES FROM THE EDITOR.

ERRATA IN OUR LAST.

Sortes Virgilliane. - Pro ' Menacla, ' read Menalca;  in the rats to the
ratcatchers. - John, Earl Eldon - in the third line read ' honour and glory
shall attend. '

SALE OF NEWSPAPERS. -
We have heretofore seen puff paragraphs about the comparative merit and
relative value of newspapers;  we see few of them now.

At the sale the other day, in the Union or BLUE Newsroom, the ' Kendal
Chronicle ', was valued from thirty-six to thirty-seven per cent. below the
' Gazette '  and this, too, in its supposed strong hold.

And in one year the said 'Chronicle', in the same room, has fallen in value,
or public estimation, from forty to fifty per cent.

"Call you this backing your friends."  We may oor Reechat exclaim, "this is
too bad".

We never read, much less print, poetry sent through the post-office and
charged.  When we open a communication and find silly doggrels instead of an
advertisement, our choler rises and we growl an anathema upon the witling
who will impudently practise upon the tenor of our philosophy.

We command our correspondent to pay 7d on our account, to our agent at
U_______, or we will shew him up.
