A carpenter of the name of OSTLE has got himself severely lamed this morning (Thursday), by falling into the hold of the new vessel now building in the yard of Messrs. RITSON and Co., Maryport. We have not heard the particular nature of the injuries he sustained, although many have lost their lives by such accidents, but we hope in this instance the poor fellow may recover. __________ On Sunday evening last, a poor girl named HAMILTON, with an infant in her arms, was knocked down in Caldewgate, by a man in a state of intoxication, in consequence of which her thigh was broken, and she was otherwise severely injured. She was, as soon as possible, conveyed to the infirmary, where the requisite means were adopted and she is now in a favorable state. The infant escaped unhurt. |
