FATAL DUEL. Letters from Paris, of the 6th inst, mention a fatal duel that took place on Mont Martre, between Captain PELLEW, of the First Regiment of Life Guards, and Captain Theodore WALSH, of the same Regiment. At the first fire Captain PELLEW was shot through the temple, and expired without a groan. Mr. FRENCH was second to Captain WALSH; we have not heard the name of Captain PELLEW's friend. The cause of this melancholy affair is the elopement of Mrs. WALSH, some short time ago with Captain PELLEW, and who was with him at Paris, to which place the injured husband followed them. Captain PELLEW was a near relation of Lord EXMOUTH. He was killed on the spot without having fired. The body, for a considerable time, was refused admission at the hotel where he was lodged. ****** |
