The barque Lorraine sailed on Friday bound to Port Augustus, South Australia, with a cargo (1,270 tons) of rails and fish plates from the West Cumberland Hematite Iron and Steel Company. She was towed out to sea by the tug, Confidence, and then attached to the steamer Rescue, of Liverpool, which took her in tow as far as Bardsey Island. The trade was not so busy during the past week. The returns were - 26 arrivals, 15 steamers and eleven sailing vessels; and 26 departures, 14 steamers and twelve sailing vessels. The registered tonnage was over 3,000, and the imports and exports nearly 10,000 tons. _____________________ |
