A pretty wedding was solemnized on Thursday at the South William Street Wesleyan Church, when Mr. Thomas RILEY, son of Mrs and the late Mr. RILEY, of Gladstone Street, and Miss. Florence BAXTER, youngest daughter of ex-Police Sergeant and Mrs. BAXTER, of Moss Bay, were united. The Rev. H. H. SYMMONS officiated, and the service was fully choral with Mr. R. HUNT at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a beautiful ankle length dress of ivory satin, with a coatee of silver lace. She also wore a veil and coronet of orange blossom and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, lilies and white heather. The chief bridesmaid was Miss. Elizabeth BAXTER (sister of the bride), who was attired in a pink satin ankle length with coatee of embossed velvet and crinoline hat and shoes and stockings to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and white heather. The two small attendants were Miss. Ethel THOMPSON, of Cocker mouth (niece of the bridegroom and Master Tom POTTS, of Penrith (nephew of the bride). The former was attired in a pink satin of ankle length and a poke bonnet and carried a Victorian posy. The latter wore a pink satin blouse and green velvet pants, with socks and shoes to tone. A reception afterwards was held at Miss. CAMPBELL’s Café. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a fitted dressing case; while the bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a gold wristlet watch. The honeymoon will be spent in London and the South. The duties of the best man were carried out by Mr. W. WALLACE, a friend of the bridegroom; and Mr. Fred MITCHELL (cousin of the bride) was the groomsman. |
