_______ Gift of an Armchair after 72,000 Miles Walk Mrs. Margaret GRAHAM, of Parkgate, near Wigton, has put up a wonderful record during the 29 years in which she has been post woman for Waverton and district. Her round included Waterside, Woodrow and Blaithwaite, and, walking nearly eight miles per day, she has covered considerably more than 72,000 miles in the course of her duties. Mrs. GRAHAM has now retired on reaching the age limit, and to mark their appreciation of the way in which she had carried out her work the householders along her route have presented her with a upholstered armchair in leather. The presentation was made by the Rev. W. TERRY, vicar of Waverton, and Mrs. GRAHAM expressed her thanks to the numerous subscribers of the gift. |
