![]() BUSINESS MEN ON THEIR ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE. Six business men, who in their youth loved and conquered the mountains of the Lakeland, last year made a notable “come-back” by climbing to and through the caves of Glaramara. They were nicknamed the “Crimson Ramblers,” and formed themselves into a permanent body for the purpose of a yearly pilgrimage to their beloved mountains. They recently made their yearly “come-back” by climbing Honister, and part of Honister Crag, and then Fleetwith, from which is obtained a magnificent view of three lakes, Buttermere, Crummock Water and Loweswater, and most of the Lake District mountain. They made a fire by a tarn, and roasted kippers and fried steak and onions, and found a wonderfully clear and realistic reflection of themselves in the tarn. The party are Mr. H. T. PAPE, president and a noted Lakeland proprietor, and chairman of the Keswick British Legion; Councillor F. PHILIPSON, Vice Chairman of the Keswick Council, Mr. Bryan HAYTON, the rotund and genial stationmaster at Keswick, who is known to thousand of visitors as an ever ready friend; Mr. R. FORSYTH, retired, formerly of Whitley Bay; Mr. J. PEASCOD, a leading Lakeland architect; and Mr. E. W. RUSHFIRTH, a building contractor and their “scribe” Mr. C. G. BONE. |
