COCKERMOUTH COUNCIL HINT TO COUNTY COUNCIL. The necessity for providing work in place of unemployment benefit for the unemployed, was urged by Mr. H. T. PAPE, Keswick, at the monthly meeting of the Cockermouth Rural District Council on Monday. Mr. PAPE suggested that work could be found in the improvement of many corners on roads in Cumberland. Mr. C. F. WATSON WATSON said that now that the County Council found that they had £14,000 more than they expected they would consider any improvements that might be made. He had no doubt that if the Surveyor’s attention was brought to any cases in their district it would receive consideration. After further discussion the matter dropped without the moving of a resolution. |
