____ Captured After 70 Miles Lakeland Walk. A mental patient who has escaped from Rosthwaite, Keswick, on Monday, was captured on Tuesday at Mockerkin by Mr. Joseph KENNON, Waterloo Street, Cockermouth, and Mr. F. LITTLE, gamekeeper to Major IREDALE. The patient had tramped over 70 miles through the valleys of the Lakeland, having walked over Honister Pass through Buttermere by the edge of Crummock Lake. The patient called at Kirkstyle and was there put into a barn overnight. The attendants of the patients were informed but on their arrival the patient had “flown” having walked over Fangs Brown to Mockerkin. There Mr. KENNON and Mr. LITTLE noticed the patient, who was in possession of a large stick and was disporting in a field doing curious tricks. With great difficulty the men persuaded the patient to accompany them across the fields to the road where a car was waiting. Eventually the patient settled in the car and was driven back to Rosthwaite. The patient was suffering from Religious mania. |
