Capable Men of Cumberland
And Westmorland.

Mr. J. H. FAULDER, principal of Newton Rigg Farm School, Penrith, ADDRESSING THE Armstrong College Agricultural Student’s Discussion Society in Newcastle said:

“Every farmer in Cumberland and Westmorland is a practical farmer, working along side his employees and with his own family. He is a good judge of stock, is industrious, frugal, shrewd, independent and cautious, and able to drive a bargain with any Jew or Scot.”

The reason why Cumbrian or Westmerian farmers did not feel the depression so much said Mr. FAULDER, was because the family style of working a farm was a predominant factor. Much was thus saved in the labour bill.
