Bishop of Carlisle on How to
Secure World’s Peace.
 
 
Preaching at Windermere Remembrance Day service, on Sunday, the Bishop of Carlisle is reference to disarmament said: “It is one thing to speak about disarmament, God knows it is necessary just now in Europe. But I tell you plainly if you think by achieving disarmament you will necessarily achieve peace you are greatly mistaken.
 
You can abolish battles, reduce your number of aeroplanes, cut down your armies, but if there are forces in the nation of lust, pride, selfishness and hate, do you think they will not find new methods of achieving domination? Assuredly they will.
 
Until the nations of the world set peace in their hearts and determine to achieve their ends by Christian methods and in Christian ways of life there is no chance of abolishing war either in Europe or in the world.
