____

A prosecution arising out of the alleged infringement of the by-laws of the Whitehaven Rural District Council, was withdrawn at Whitehaven Court on Monday.

The defendant was Mrs. Vera SPEDDING. Of “Storms,” Keswick, and it was alleged that in August last she erected a building at Braystones Beach without giving notice to the Council.

Mr. J. R. HENLEY, clerk to the Council said that Mr. W. C. SUMNER had handed him plans that morning and he wished to withdraw the case. At the same time, the Council wished to make it known that they intended to enforce the by-laws in the future. Mr. SUMNER, on behalf of Mrs. SPEDDING, said she had no intention of breaking the by-laws.
