The late Mr. William McARTHUR was one of the handiest of handymen. A clever craftsman, he was a versatile mason who could turn his hand to a hundred and one kindred jobs and do the well; the kind of skilled workman whose utility to a community is immeasurable. In his younger days Mr. McARTHUR was an amusing female impersonator, and, if memory serves me right, he was one of the original members of the first Maryport troop of Yeomanry together with such stalwarts as Collie TOWERS, Lionel MANDLE, the late Sammy HILL and others; one of the original Maryport troop of Yeomanry who made such a brave show in their scarlet and silver uniforms, facsimiles of those of the light Dragoons of the Waterloo period.
